Maradona DiegoIt was confirmed by the Argentine Football Association that Diego Maradona is no more the coach of the national football team. Maradona was keen to continue as coach of the team but after he refused to change the backroom team, the AFA decided not to renew his contract as coach.

In the FIFA World Cup, 2010, Argentina lost to Germany in the quarter finals, where the Germans won 4-0. The AFA President, Julio Drondona said that to make the decision was difficult and to change Diego’s staff was one of the most difficult decisions to take.
As the conditions was not suitable to both, he said, the contract was not renewed and to say that the coach was sacked will be wrong. He said that he wanted to talk to the former coach but as the time was not correct he did not.

As compared to the President of the AFA, the general secretary, Jose Luis Meiszner was not that sad and said after the World Cup there was no review, no evaluation and no conclusion done and these are the things which one needs to think about to plan the future. There has been no candidate that has been decided to take the position as of now, but this decision will be taken soon, he added.
