The Education Ministry has warned all teachers and students that if they are caught giving or taking bribes in the national exams of Grade 12, they will have to face disciplinary actions. Around 108000 students of Grade 12 are taking the national exams in different subjects. As per the Uo Eng who is the Deputy Director General at the General Department of the Educational Ministry said that cheating happens all over the world and is not new in Cambodia.
He said still if anyone was caught cheating in the exams this time he would need to face stiff penalties. He said any candidate who uses telephone in the exam rooms will be failed after they receive the reports from the administrators of the examination centre.
He said if anyone teacher took bribes from the students he will be punished or fined as per the regulations of the education administration.
There have been reports that students are bribing teachers between 5000 riels to 20000 riels to get answers to the questions in the exams. Reports suggest that each student in Kampong Thom were paying 20000 riels to the teachers to get answers to the exam questions. The same has been accepted by students though their names have been with held as per their request.
