Phnom Penh. Kandal: On September 9, 2010, outside the Provincial Court, there were more than 100 protesters gathered together in order for demanding the release of their representative over case of dispute in land concession with Heng Development Corporation. Villagers came to ask for free of their voice-representative who was captured earlier this month, a local right worker said.

44-year-sold Vorn Vin was arrested on Saturday and accused of land grabbing and provoke violence at the time he was leading demonstration against Heng Development in Kandal Stung district, men Makara, provincial coordinator for rights group stated. He is confined temporarily in provincial prison before hearing and the court has already issued the two arrest warrants so as to summon or bring Mr. Ien Yan and Chea Hy who remain at large before court. There is no any comment from Sieng Chanheng, owner of Heng Development, and provincial prosecutor Ok Simsith.

By Mr. Makara’s statement, Heng Development was granted a 150-hectare plot of land in 2005 and consequently decided to dislocate 192 local families. Therefore, those families made legal claim in the court against Heng Development Company. Mr. Makara added, “We are now preparing a lawyer for Mr. Vin to make a bail request.”

Judge Thear Bunnar would ponder the case if he got the legal form from Mr. Vin’s lawer and if they had not committed any mistake, we would not have submitted introductory submission against them
