The needful can be obtained in your country from the Consular representatives. South America is a big continent, hence there is a variation of weather at different places. Some of the areas such as Brazil are usually hot whereas the weather in coastal places like Venezuela, the Amazon Forest and Ecuador are extremely humid. You can take the clothes which make you feel comfortable along with you. A pair of hiking boots, a waterproof parka, sneakers, warm clothes, cotton clothes, a sun hat, socks, cargo pants and the most important of all, a swimsuit.
You can also carry other accessories along with you like watches, sunglasses, belts etc. A first aid kit will come in handy in case of an emergency. Don’t carry too much luggage. Limit the amount of luggage as there are limitations imposed in every airport.
Travelers checks or Visa Travel Money is the best currency you take along with you. Carrying American currency with you would be an added advantage as they can be used anywhere and they also fetch you good exchange rates. Ensure that you have made ample photocopies of credit cards, passport identification pages, airline tickets and other ID you are carrying. Give them to your friends or relatives where you live. Tell the people back home the way by which you can be contacted.
